Daily Prayer for January 9

A New Love

There was a time when nothing worked out according to my plans. But change had come, and it was time to make more changes. The three children were in school. Finally I could enroll in college courses and fulfill my dream of teaching English and writing the great American novel. Then I discovered that I was pregnant again. Even though it should have been a time to rejoice, I was afraid to bond with this unborn baby. A previous pregnancy had ended in tragedy when our baby died at the end of the first trimester. We were heartbroken! Another “But God” was about to take place. This baby grew and I fell in love with her the instant I saw her and held her in my arms. I wish that I could say this was the turning point in my life, but the baby-blues syndrome emerged out of the dark cloud that never left me until that glorious day when God moved in.
God is Love! The love that flooded me that day was living proof that God had indeed visited me. I eagerly awaited the children’s arrival from school, meeting them with a smile that refused to turn into a frown. Terri asked, “Mommy, what has happened to you? You are smiling all the time!” God was more than just an “All-Seeing Eye,” peering at my every mistake. He became a Father who loved me, who watched out for my best interest and the best interests of those I love. I had a covenant relationship with a personal God who loved me unconditionally!
PRAYER:
Father, I thank you for bringing me out from under doom, and setting up feet upon the solid rock. LORD, you are my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, in whom I take refuge. You are my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. LORD, you are in my midst—a warrior bringing victory. Thank you for creating calm with your love and rejoicing over me with singing. Your steadfast love is precious, and I love you because you first loved me.
