Daily Prayer for April 24

Live In Peace

The Holy Spirit began teaching me how to pursue and live in peace at home. This is where He taught me to lay aside my childish defenses, and listen for Him to teach and train me to walk in love. On the day this Pentecostal girl learned that God loved me unconditionally, I craved to know Him!  My theme song was, “O, I want to see Him, look upon His face.” But the dogmatic, judgmental attitude that I had learned from early childhood continued causing a great divide between my husband and me.  My intention was to share the Love of God with him and our children, but he challenged every statement I made. I searched out scriptures that would help me convince him to come into agreement with me.  Slowly I became puffed up with knowledge! The Holy Spirit got my attention when my husband said, “You are as dogmatic today as you have ever been!” Ouch! Going to my prayer closet I asked the Holy Spirit to transform me and teach me to walk in love and live in peace.

Prayer: Today, I bless my husband and others who I feel are treating me unfairly because of my beliefs. Open my eyes and let me see them as You see them, my Father.  I purpose to speak blessings over them and listen when they speak.  I pray Your love in me will overcome a judgmental, dogmatic attitude, and that I will remember relationships are more important than being “right.”  I rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep…I associate with the humble…If it is possible, as much as depends on me, I purpose to live at peace with all men, beginning here in our home. With Your help, I will strive to live in peace with everybody and pursue that consecration and holiness without which no one will [ever] see the Lord. I submit to the peace of God that passes all understanding, and purpose that peace will be my umpire in my conversations. Holy Spirit, thank You for reminding me that a soft answer turns away wrath. I purpose to overcome evil with good in the name of Jesus. Amen.
