Trusting in the Lord

December 31, 2006

The ladies and I pulled our chairs together forming a circle. We read First Kings 18:37-39 and Acts 3:1-6. Then talked about how to apply these Scriptures to our lives. A demonstration of God’s power caused the people to cry: the Lord, He is God! In Acts when Peter spoke to the crippled man there was another demonstration of divine power. God wants us to trust Him to demonstrate His power through us so that our loved ones will come to know Him. It was then one lovely young woman spoke: I have a trust issue and become fearful when I think that God wants me to do something. We could identify with her and asked God to help us grow in grace that we might learn to trust Him more.

PRAYER:
To the glory of the Father I welcome you, Holy Spirit. I’m so grateful that You are my Helper as I prepare for the New Year. I humble myself before You asking for Divine Guidance. In Jesus’ name I commit myself anew to Your plans and purposes, that I might run the full race completing the destiny to which You have called me. I trust in You, Lord, I put my full confidence in You and Your word, and delight myself in You. Father-God, be glorified in and through my life in coming year as never before, in Jesus name. Amen.

The Tithe

December 30, 2006

My parents always tithed and gave offerings. One spring day my dad walked to his organic garden to find an invasion of destructive bugs eating up the young plants. Without hesitation, he went back to the house, picked up his Bible and asked mother to come outside with him. They walked to the center of the rows of vegetables where dad read Malachi 3:10-11 aloud and prayed: Father we have been faithful to your word and paid our tithes with gladness. Now I thank You for honoring Your Word that says You will rebuke the devourer [insects and plagues] for our sakes. Lord of hosts, we declare that you are Lord over this garden. They were not afraid to prove God. That year their crop was more abundant than every. God was faithful to watch over His word to perform it. We all gave glory to God, our Father as we enjoyed the fresh vegetables that summer! They had plenty to share with neighbors and friends.

PRAYER:
Father, it is our delight to bring all the tithes (the whole tenth of our income) into the storehouse that there may be food in Your house. Lord of hosts, in accordance with Your Word, we prove You now by paying You the tithe where we receive our spiritual nourishment. Thank You for opening the Windows of Heaven for us and pouring us out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it, in the name of Jesus. Amen. Employment

December 29, 2006

Father, we pray for those in our nation who have lost their jobs. You promised, and we believe that You supply to the full their every need. You know their work records and what they are doing. We ask You to set before them doors of employment that no one is able to shut. We pray that they will prize Wisdom and acknowledge that You are the One who gives power to get wealth. In everything they do give them the grace to put You first, and You will direct them and crown their efforts with success. Cause them to increase in Wisdom and in Favor with You, Father, and with man, in the name of Jesus. Amen. (Employment, Prayers That Avail Much Commemorative Edition)

Family

December 28, 2006

Father, in the name of Jesus, we thank You for pouring Your Spirit upon our family from on high. Our wilderness has become a fruitful field, and we value our fruitful field as a forest. Justice dwells in our wilderness, and righteousness [religious and moral rectitude in every area and relation] abides in our fruitful field. The effect of righteousness is peace [internal and external], and the result of righteousness, quietness and confident trust forever. Thank You for my family in the name of Jesus. Amen. Prayer for Children

December 27, 2006

NOTE: If you do not have children I encourage you to pray for nieces, nephews and the children of your neighborhood.

Father, I ask You to create in our children the desire to attend to Your words. Give them willing and obedient hearts that they may consent and submit to Your sayings and walk in Your ways. Cause their eyes to look straight ahead with purpose for the future. May the tongues of our children be as the pens of ready writers, writing mercy and kindness upon the tablet of their hearts. May they speak the truth in love, and may their hands do the works of the Father. In the name of Jesus, we bind their feet to the pathways You have foreordained for them. Hearing the Voice of God

December 26, 2006

In the name of Jesus, I hear the voice of the Good Shepherd. I purpose to listen to my Father’s voice, and the voice of a stranger I will not follow. I roll my works upon You Lord, commit and trust them wholly to You. You will cause my thoughts to become agreeable to Your will, and so shall my plans be established and succeed. Thank You for Your love, in the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

Christmas Day Prayer

December 25, 2006

Father, we come to celebrate the Gift that You sent to us; the birth of Jesus, Emanuel, God with us. We pray that future generations will remember the sacred purpose of this celebration, and follow in our footsteps as we follow You. Jesus, we acknowledge that You are the Word that became flesh and lived among us. You are full of grace and truth, and from You we receive one gift after another. I give You all that I have—I give You myself – spirit, soul and body, and pray that future generations will walk in truth. Amen.

Forgiven

December 24, 2006

Heavenly Father, thank You for this beautiful Christmas Eve. Most of all I thank You for giving us Your Son, Jesus. Jesus, thank You for bearing our sins on the cross so that we can live unto righteousness, and by Your stripes we were healed. We bless You, Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Tonight we will go to bed with great expectations looking forward to celebrating with family and friends the birth of our Lord and Savior. Thank You for forgiving our sins and casting them into the depths of the sea, in the name of Jesus. Amen. (Prayers That Avail Much First Blessings for Your Child)

A Prayer for Children

December 22, 2006

Almighty God, I thank You that my children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their friends will find salvation in the Son that You have given us. They will know that there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved. Thank You for parents and teachers who are teaching them in a spirit of common sense so that we can bring them to maturity. By Your Spirit teach them how to rely on divine energy that You have so generously given them to do their very best, in the name of Jesus I pray. Amen. Security

December 22, 2006

Father, in the name of Jesus, I bless my family and co-workers daily with faith and love. May we be filled with hope for the word of truth; the gospel is our mainstay. The Prince of Peace is our Companion and Strength for this day. We are secure, for we have received Your abundant provision of grace and the gift of righteousness through Jesus Christ. At night we rest in perfect peace, consoled by thoughts of Your love for us, in the name of Jesus. Amen. (Prayers That Avail Much First Blessings for Your Child)
